Maserati: we (almost) know when the new product plan will be presented

Santo Ficili, Maserati's new CEO

The period from 2020 to 2025 will be remembered as one of the darkest in recent history. Maserati. The non-renewal of emblematic models such as the Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante has left the range progressively emptied, with no concrete way forward. Admittedly, the trident brand has tried a few things. The MC20 supercar was launched with great fanfare, but its over-ambitious price tag put off many customers. Then there were the new GranTurismo and GranCabrio, hailed for their style and technology, but deemed unaffordable on release.

The Grecale? This compact SUV should have been a hit. But once again, its design, judged too conservative for a Maserati, left enthusiasts wanting more. And what about the 100 % electric "Folgore"? Electrified versions of the GranTurismo and soon other models... but almost no sales. As for the market, it just wasn't there.

The consequences were not long in coming: financial results in the redWith profitability plummeting and plants at a standstill, Modena, Mirafiori and even Cassino were recently shut down. As for the MC20 Folgore, it has been abandoned altogether.just like the ambition of an all-electric range.

Despite the gloom, a few bright spots broke through the clouds. On the track, Maserati proved that it still knows how to make hearts beat faster. The MCXtremaan extreme version for gentlemen drivers, has won over a targeted audience. And above all, Maserati GT2 shines in competition with outstanding performanceThe brand's credibility was restored.

Given this track record, a change was called for. In October 2024, Maserati has a new CEO. A new course was promised. Jean-Philippe Imparato, head of Stellantis Europe, promised a structured, hard-hitting product planand, above all, presented as soon as possible. In March 2025, Maserati's new CEO even declared that he wanted to " making all our long-standing customers happy" .

But since then? Not a peep. Radio silence. No plan, no public roadmap. More than six months have passed since the new CEO, and still no official announcement.

In February, Santo Ficili presented the Maserati plan to the management teams.

At least, according to our exclusive information, the wait is almost over: Maserati's new product plan should be presented by the end of June 2025 at the latest. A date which, coincidence or not, coincides strangely with the deadline set by Stellantis for appointing its future CEO. It's as if everything is ready to go... but awaiting the final green light from the top of the group.

One last month to wait? Perhaps. After years of uncertainty, commercial flops and misunderstood repositioning, Maserati no longer has the right to make mistakes.

  1. Maserati like Alfa Romeo is music !!! The one who wanted to introduce electrification in these ranges had to get kicked out of his business school before the end of the first month of his first year 😜🤣.... Whoever priced the range hadn't had to go much further in his business school!!!! Incredible mistakes at this level of competence . The customer knows what he's looking for and is no longer captive to a brand. For an electric battery, Tesla is fine, but has never made a car enthusiast fantasize.

  2. That's your opinion. A car enthusiast is not necessarily just a vroom vroom enthusiast. I'm sorry, but you can appreciate a car, even a sporty one, without it being a "screamer". By the way, the Alfa bialbero and V6 Busso disappeared a long time ago, yet sales were still good. As for EVs, we can see that Porsche is doing pretty well, ....but Porsche has also been living off the "others" for a long time now (big thermal Panzers and now EVs).
