Production of the Grande Panda is just getting underway, the next SUV from Fiatcalled Fastback and known internally as F2X, will soon be ready. It follows in the wake of the Italian brand's revival, initiated by the Large Panda which has just gone into production in Serbia on the "Smart Car" platform. This time, however, the Fastback will be produced in Brazil for the local market, and in Morocco for Europe and Africa. For the Moroccan plant, spring 2026 to see production start up at the Stellantis plant in Kénitra. This plant, which already manufactures the Peugeot e208, has benefited from an investment of more than 300 million euros to double its production capacity and introduce the famous "Smart Car" platform on which the future SUV is based.

Fiat could present the Fastback as early as this summer, in July. However, it's not out of the question that a first glimpse will be unveiled a little earlier, as was the case with the Grande Panda. Orders for the new SUV are expected to open in September or October 2025, leaving a good window of opportunity before production actually starts the following spring. Note thatit's not impossible that we'll be presenting our other Giga-Panda SUV at the same time. (that won't be called that), codenamed F2U, and scheduled to go into production a few months later, around mid-2026.

Future F2U and F2X models to be based on the same "Smart Car" platform than the Grande Panda, which has been specially designed to accommodate both electric and hybrid powertrains. Fiat could thus offer a version with an 83 kW (113 hp) electric block, powered by a 44 kWh battery, and a 136 hp thermal hybrid version. With the Fastback, Fiat aims to offer a streamlined SUV design, closer to a raised coupé than a conventional SUV.

The choice of Kenitra as the production site for the Fastback is not insignificant. Since its inauguration in 2019, the Moroccan plant has already surpassed the targets initially set in the industrial agreement signed with the Kingdom's government. Its ambition is now to increase production to 400,000 vehicles a year, to which are added the Fiat Topolino, Citroën Ami and Opel Rocks-e. In this way, Stellantis hopes to strengthen its market share in Africa and the Middle East, with a target of over 22 % by 2030.
