New Fiat 500 hybrid: launch date and volume targets confirmed!

The new Fiat 500 hybrid makes its comeback! After several months of uncertainty, the Stellantis Group has confirmed launch date and sales targets for this hybrid version of the city car. An essential decision to relaunch the 500, particularly after sales figures down for 2024.

A Fiat 500 hybrid "Made in Italy

In line with revealed by Olivier François 6 months ago, Fiat has chosen to stay true to its roots by producing the new 500 hybrid in Italy. The three-cylinder 1.0 FireFly engine will be manufactured in Termoli. This engine is already used in Fiat Panda Hybrid models, but it will be revised and improved for this new hybrid version. The engine will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The 500 hybrid will be built entirely in Italian factorieswith the gearbox assembled at the Mirafiori plant, another symbol of Fiat's commitment.

The Fiat 500 hybrid will be based on the STLA City platformwhich is the platform used for the current electric 500. Fiat is also planning a slight estylage of the all-electric version of the 500, which will share aesthetic improvements and technological updates with the hybrid version. The new Fiat 500 hybrid is scheduled for launch between late 2025 and early 2026, with a presentation in November 2025.

Reconnecting with volume

Fiat is counting on high production volumes to revive the 500's popularity. The aim is to produce 100,000 units of the hybrid version, a significant proportion of total sales of the 500 range. As a reminder, the former Fiat 500 produced in Poland recorded annual sales of around 180,000. Fiat hopes to return to these figures, with the ambition of selling 100,000 Fiat 500 hybrids and, why not, 80,000 electric Fiat 500s (which should be cheaper)within the next few years.

  1. I'm looking forward to the launch of the new Fiat 500 Hybrid, especially if it retains its firefly...
We're talking about restyling, so please, as far as the front bumper is concerned, take a closer look at the previous-generation 2007 model ... It's too good to look at!
    I've got one.

  2. I've owned a 500 red for 4 months now and it's pure joy. I've been a loyal 500 owner for years, and now it's my 4th, I don't regret my choice. The line, the color and the ease of use.

  3. At last! It was a mistake to think that everyone was going to buy an electric Fiat 500.
And with the FireFly engine, that's good news. But in almost a year's time, sales of the 500e will be difficult.
