Future Fiat Panda: what we already know about the model due in 2030

The current Fiat Panda may well have the longest career in the Stellantis group. Produced since 2012 at the Pomigliano d'Arco plant, it has recently been updated to extend its lifespan to 2030. The Grande Panda has also been added to the family. However, it is not this one that will be the replacement model, but the the future Fiat Panda, which will arrive in 7 years' time, in 2030, after an impressive 18-year career for the current generation.

We revealed it on Italpassion, the new Fiat Panda will not be based on the STLA Small platform.Instead, the STLA City platform, used on the electric Fiat 500, will be used. With this change of platform, the future Panda will also become 100% electric, just like the future 500.

With regard to the electric motor, it is The new Fiat Panda is very likely to be equipped with an engine supplied by the Stellantis/Emotors joint venture, which specializes in the manufacture of electric motors. The 113 hp M2 motor, currently used in the Grande Panda, could be adapted for the future version of the Panda, with similar or lower power, to meet the needs of a city car.

The battery should be an LFP battery provided by the Stellantis/CATL joint venturewhich will go into production in Spain in 2026. With this technology, the Fiat Panda 2030 should offer autonomy and performance well suited to the needs of urban drivers.

As far as dimensions are concerned, the future Panda will share its platform with the electric Fiat 500, which should make it smaller than the Grande Panda. We can therefore expect It measures around 3.6 metres in length, like the current Panda.

The final question remains: How much will the new-generation Fiat Panda cost? According to Fiat CEO Olivier François, electric car prices are set to fall over the next few years. Today, an electric Fiat Grande Panda costs around €25,000, while the current hybrid Panda sells for €15,000. It's reasonable to assume that the future electric Panda will be priced at under €20,000 by 2030, to make electric vehicles more accessible.

Finally, the design of the future Fiat Panda will be a tribute to the original 1980s model. As Olivier François stated, the new Panda will retain design elements immediately reminiscent of the Grande Panda. "When you see them side by side, you'll immediately notice the bond between the mother bear and her cub," he said.
