Fiat: no Giga-Panda or Multipla!

A few days ago, we went to Turin to test drive the Fiat Grande Panda. The test drive, which you can find out more about on our website in a few days' time, gave us the opportunity to put a number of questions to Guillaume Clerc, Head of Product Fiat and Abarth worldwide. Among the questions, one focused on the models that will follow the Grande Panda, and in particular on what Fiat will be offering in the future. the Giga-Panda or the Multipla. A 5- to 7-seat family model and the Fastback were also on the cards. But against all expectations, the response was surprising.

Rumours of the Giga-Panda have been circulating for some time, and with good reason: this model is due to bring back Fiat in the family car segment. With an estimated length of 4.40 meters, the Giga-Panda / Multipla should be a practical and spacious C-SUV, able to accommodate up to seven passengers.

The Giga-Panda concept offers a generous interior, a modern silhouette and, above all, an affordable price. However, if these specifications remain interesting, Guillaume Clerc has confirmed that the names "Giga-Panda" and "Multipla" will not be used for these new models.

When it comes to communication, Fiat remains discreet, to say the least. Even if Mr. Clerc has remained particularly mysterious about the names of future models. Nevertheless, if it's not a Giga-Panda or Multipla, as we suggested a few weeks ago.., that this car could be called Tipo since, according to our information, it is nicknamed "New Tipo". That's right, in addition to the code name F2U, this model is actually nicknamed F2U internally.

The big question remains: what will the final name of this car be? Fiat is still keeping the mystery under wraps, but one thing's for sure: it won't be the Giga-Panda or the Multipla. The Tipo name seems plausible, but another name could also emerge. This 5- to 7-seat family model continues to arouse interest. We should know more in a few months' time when Fiat unveils its new model, if it is indeed this one first.
