Fiat is going through a difficult period in the first quarter of 2025, especially in Europe. While the brand continues to perform well in Latin America, it is suffering heavy losses on the Old Continent. Let's take a look at the figures and short-term prospects for the Italian brand.
Another fine performance in Latin America
As usual, Fiat stands out in Latin America, where results are much more promising. In Brazil, the manufacturer posted an increase of +9% compared with the first quarter of 2024, and an even more impressive +14% compared with the first quarter of 2023. In Argentina, the figures are even more impressive, with a year-on-year increase of 85%. These results are a strong sign of Fiat's strength in these booming markets. At this rate, Latin America will account for more than 50 % of Fiat sales.
Major difficulties in Europe
Unfortunately, the picture is very different in Europe. The figures are indisputable: the brand is suffering from a dramatic drop in sales in several key countries. In Italy, the decline reached -6% compared with the first quarter of 2024, while in Germany the drop was -36%. France saw one of the steepest declines with -55%, followed by Spain (-41%) and the UK (-22%). This worrying trend underlines a loss of market share in countries where Fiat has long been a benchmark.
Turkey: an unexpected fall
Turkey, once Fiat's third-largest market, plummets to fourth place, dethroned by Argentina. Long buoyed by the Tipo (Egea in Turkey), the 53% drop in sales in Turkey is a major blow for the brand, which is losing its position.
Japan and the United States: contrasting performances
Japan, although slightly down with -15%, remains a market where Fiat seems to be finding it difficult to establish itself, while the United States turned in a fine performance. The brand recorded an increase of +239% compared to the first 2024. Admittedly, volumes remained modest, but the Fiat 500 seems to be enjoying a second youth on the other side of the Atlantic, perhaps thanks to the Fiat 500 Giorgio Armani, deliveries of which began a few months ago.
Hope for a recovery with the Grande Panda and new models

The difficult situation in Europe should not last forever. In April 2025, Fiat customers are eagerly awaiting the first deliveries of the Grande Panda, a model expected to turn around the company's fortunes. This launch is seen as an important lever to counter recent poor performance. In addition, Fiat is planning to present an all-new model in a few months' time, and the launch of the hybrid version of the 500 in November 2025 with an ambitious order target. These initiatives should enable the brand to bounce back in the years to come.
Although the year 2025 will be marked by mixed results, the future looks brighter for Fiat, with a recovery likely in 2026, supported by a new generation of vehicles and key markets that could once again take the brand to the top.

Honestly, why FIAT does not fire its CEO. Underperformance has been experienced for years. As a long time FIAT customer (had a Punto 2, a GrandePunto, and 2 new Tipos), I am pretty disappointed, and I am turning away from FIAT (buying a new Toyota Yaris now). Simply the current models do not attract me. And their price? The sales figures speak to themselves.
No surprise for Fiat's bad figures for 2024. I've been a Fiat customer myself for over 20 years, and haven't found a model to replace my vehicle. The elimination of models, too many electrics and too few manual gearboxes made me fall back on a new brand.
The presentation of the fastback seems to be scheduled for this summer, but when will the model be in dealerships?
I hope, and I think, more quickly than the Grande Panda, which was delayed because of the problems identified with the C3. Here, the C3 Aircross is already on the market, so normally...
There's no future for Fiat without a new Punto and a "Ritmo"-style compact in the catalog, 2 segments that have always been Fiat's core business along with the A-segment! Would it ever occur to VW to do away with the Golf and Polo, or to Renault to do away with the Clio?
Fiat ist schoen Auto! Alles bestes! Mein Auto ist Fiat 500. 10 jahren! KEIN MECHANICAL PROBLEM!
