Article update: the recall concerns Fiat 500e and Abarth 500e 100 % electric models, not petrol models.
A major reminder has been issued by the European Commission via its Safety Gate on several Fiat 500e and Abarth 500e models. This recall follows a manufacturing defect that could lead to a fire hazard. In fact, due to a manufacturing error, a clamp or nut on the negative pole inside the battery could be incorrectly tightened. This could cause the part to move, resulting in arcing, voltage spikes or temperature rises. These phenomena can damage the battery, melt the insulation and, in the worst case, cause a fire.

The models concerned by this recall campaign are the following:
Fiat 500 :

Abarth 500 :
- e32018/858000011000
The vehicles concerned were produced between September 21, 2021 and the November 10, 2023 for the Fiat 500, and the January 24, 2024 for the Abarth 500.
