There are stories that leave their mark. The story of this Ferrari 348 is both tragic and improbable. The scene is set in the 90s. Freshly delivered to a dealership, this iconic car's first encounter with asphalt turned into a disaster: it literally flipped over on its roof before it had covered a single meter.
A delivery that turns into a fiasco
It all began with a mundane but always delicate operation: the delivery of a vehicle perched on the top platform of a car transporter. In this case, it was a superb Ferrari 348. But the maneuver went awry. Before the astonished eyes of helpless witnesses, the car ended up on its roof, right in front of the dealership where it was to be housed. A surreal scene.

The information was shared on Facebook by former dealership employee Paul Blackmore Ferrarivia the "Ferrari 348 Club" group. The photos speak for themselves: roof completely caved in, deformed bodywork... a terrible impact!

The magic of the Internet
After this story was first published, another witness at the time added to Paul Blackmore's version. According to him, the car was initially sold new in the early '90s. But due to the economic crisis of 1991-1992, the original buyer cancelled his purchase. At the time, many Ferrari 348s remained unsold in the UK, and Ferrari would have allowed the vehicle to be resold to a Japanese customer.
Rather than call in a professional transporter, the intermediary decided to take matters into his own hands, towing the car on a trailer lent by a friend, behind a Range Rover. And the result? The car ended up upside down, in a sorry state.

The witness recalls that the 348 was sent to Ferrari Egham for repairs.
Repaired, against all odds
Despite the damage, the Ferrari 348 has been repaired. Details of the work are still unclear, but it's not hard to imagine the astronomical costs involved in putting this collector's model back on its feet. What is certain is that the car is back on the road.
A Ferrari like no other
The Ferrari 348 is not just any model in the history of the Italian manufacturer. Presented in 1989, it was one of the last projects validated under the watchful eye of Enzo Ferrari before his death in 1988. It inaugurated a series of innovations for the brand: longitudinally mounted V8 engine, transverse gearbox... A technical breakthrough, but also a stylistic one.
Although often overshadowed by its successor, the F355, the 348 remains a collector's item. And this incredible misadventure only enhances its aura. A Ferrari that survives such a crash is almost a living legend.
