F1: here's the official trailer for the film starring Brad Pitt

Scheduled for summer 2025, the film F1 promises to highlight the intensity and stakes of this increasingly popular motor sport worldwide. And its 30-second trailer has just been unveiled.

The film follows the story of former Formula 1 driver Sonny Hayes, who suffers a serious accident and is forced to retire. Recontacted by team owner Ruben, Hayes is asked to mentor a promising rookie, Joshua "Noah" Pearce, in the fictional Apex Grand Prix (APXGP) team. Through this story of mentoring, the film promises to blend sport and emotion, with a touch of realism since F1 drivers for the 2023 and 2024 seasons will appear as themselves.

Brad Pitt plays the lead role of Sonny Hayes, but the cast is not limited to him. Formula 1 fans will be delighted to find the sport's most iconic figures, including Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Sergio Pérezand many others, who will be playing themselves. Add to this figures such as ex-team manager Günther Steinerand you have a film that should delight motorsport fans with its realism.

Filming began in July 2023, at the British Grand Prix on the Silverstone circuit. Brad Pitt was seen at the wheel of a Formula 2 car modified by Mercedes to resemble a Formula 1 single-seater. The APX GP, a fictional team from the film, was set up in the Silverstone paddock, between Mercedes and Ferrari, adding a layer of credibility. Action scenes were filmed during tire testing for Haas and Red Bull.

The release of F1 is scheduled for June 27, 2025 in the U.S.. In France and other European countries, the film will be shown in cinemas on June 25, 2025. It now remains to be seen whether this film, which promises to be a blockbuster, will succeed in capturing the essence of Formula 1. Whereas sports films are often focused on emotion and entertainment, it will be interesting to see how F1 manages to stay true to the reality of the sport.
