As announced 2 months ago, the Alfa Romeo's Tonale SUV gets a makeover for 2025and if the aesthetic and technological update is far from self-evident, thearket prices are up slightly everywhere. However, one country stands out for offering lower prices: the United States.
Slight price rises in Europe
Alfa Romeo takes advantage of 2025 to make pricing adjustments to its Tonalea model already well established in the Italian manufacturer's range. This update comes against a backdrop of slight drop in saleswith the aim of rekindling consumer interest.

The end of the 1.5L MHEV and 1.3L PHEV 190 hp versions
Another new feature for 2025 is the disappearance of two engines from the range the 1.5L MHEV 130hp petrol version and the 1.3L PHEV 190hp plug-in hybrid. Alfa Romeo has thus simplified its range to concentrate on more powerful engines. It should be noted that the 1.3L PHEV 190 hp was primarily intended for corporate customers for tax reasons. The 1.5L MHEV 130 hp version perhaps seemed a little light compared with the performance of the 160 hp. The Tonale MY25 should now benefit from an advertising campaign.
Seriously, starting at 40K for a vehicle in this segment? With "small" engines to boot...
An enthusiast since 1979, I have just ordered my first Japanese car, the Mazda CX 30, to replace my Giulietta QV.
Since the creation of Stellantis, it's been the programmed death of the Italian car and Alfa Romeo in particular!
In Europe, we're not lucky enough to have the 2.0 L 268 hp model.
If prices are falling in the USA, it's because of internal competition from the Dodge Hornet, the same car, cheaper except for the badge.
In the United States, the Dodge Hornet also failed to find its audience.
It's considered too expensive and lacks the "American soul" that a Dodge should have.
On both sides of the Atlantic, Tonale and Hornet have disappointed and are on the road to commercial failure.
In any case, the prices of European automakers are completely out of kilter, despite the consolidation of brands. It's even worse than when each brand was independent. Alfa is no exception to the rule. But you have to feed the shareholders, don't you? Even if it's on our backs... meanwhile, the Chinese are coming up with Suvs in the same segment for 20,000 euros with the same features, as seen on youtube. I'm just saying...
