This information corroborates the latest comments by Alfa Romeo's CEO, who had already confirmed the arrival of the new Stelvio in 2025, while announcing a market launch in 2026. The main reasons for this delay are linked to the STLA Large platform, produced within the Stellantis Group, and to the Szentgotthard plant in Hungary, whose full production capacity for electric motors will not be reached until 2026.

Market launch scheduled for spring 2026

As for the timetable, while the final presentation of the future Stelvio is now expected for the end of 2025, the marketing of the model is not, is scheduled to start in spring 2026, probably between March and April. This change in planning is in line with Alfa Romeo's desire to focus on an electric 100 % version, although hybrid powertrains will be offered at a later date.

A strategic SUV on the STLA Large platform

With the new Stelvio, Alfa Romeo aims to strengthen its position in the premium SUV market. Based on the STLA Large platform, already adopted by some of the Stellantis Group's new models in North America, the future Stelvio will stand out for performance worthy of the Italian badge.

In the meantime, the Milanese brand is actively working on the Alfa Romeo Junior, which has just launched the Q4 version, and is due to bring an evolution to the Tonale, which should be updated in mid-2025.

  1. I wonder about the photocopier that is Stellantis toussa toussa: will it have the same mirrors as all the ex-PSA + Avenger + 600 + Junior + Grande Panda production?

Check Google Images and you'll see they all have the same mirrors 🙄 No small savings at Avaris uh Stellantis.

    • Frankly, who cares about identical mirrors? You buy a car based on mirrors? Are you serious?
And if there's no economy of scale, there's no profitability and therefore no future projects. I'd rather have a perennial range with shared details than totally specific vehicles, which cost more than they bring in and drag the brand down...

  2. Every time a new Alfa is presented, it's delayed. As if Alfa were overwhelmed by new models.
They'll still be one car behind.
Especially as the current Stelvio will soon be discontinued.
So the Giulia, which was due to arrive 1 year after the Stelvio, will arrive in 2027?
If you don't want a brand to work, there's no other way.

    • This doesn't mean that the Giulia will be delayed (much), as the two models are being developed in parallel and obviously have a lot in common.

And even if it's annoying, it might be better than a hasty launch with its breakdowns and bugs. Would Alfa need it? Clearly not. We don't want to (re)experience the C3's laborious launch.
