The figures are in: after a promising january, Alfa Romeo continues its momentum in February 2025. The Italian brand's overall performance is up on last year, with a total of 9,864 registrations in the first two months of the year in the top 10 countries. Enough to arouse enthusiasm, even if the question remains: Is it enough to bring Alfa Romeo back to the heights of yesteryear?
The Junior SUV continues to seduce
Already a hit in January, Alfa Romeo's Junior SUV confirmed its success in February, particularly in key markets such as Italy, France and Spain. It alone accounts for a significant share of the brand's total sales in these countries:
- Italy 2,764 Juniors out of 4,584 registrations
- France 876 Juniors out of 1,299 registrations
- Spain 461 Juniors out of 708 registrations
Although we don't yet have precise figures for Junior in other countries, it's clear that this new SUV plays a major role in Alfa Romeo's dynamic growth. It remains to be seen whether the craze will continue as the months go by.
Contrasting performances by market
Compiling data for January and February 2025, Alfa Romeo registrations total 9,864, up +17 % on n-1 and +26 % on n-2. In some countries, growth was very strong, while in others it was less so.
Country | January 2025 | February 2025 | Total Jan-Feb | Change vs n-1 | Change vs n-2 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Italy | 2 276 | 2 308 | 4 584 | +20 % | +29 % |
United States | 460 | 743 | 1 203 | -19 % | -14 % |
Germany | 572 | 649 | 1 221 | +14 % | +52 % |
France | 656 | 643 | 1 299 | +62 % | +148 % |
Spain | 335 | 373 | 708 | +67 % | +71 % |
Turkey | 113 | 96 | 209 | -1 % | -44 % |
Japan | 67 | 55 | 122 | -15 % | -45 % |
United Kingdom | 69 | 56 | 125 | -6 % | -7 % |
Switzerland | 67 | 86 | 153 | -14 % | +10 % |
Austria | 87 | 153 | 240 | +70 % | -4 % |
Total | - | - | 9 864 | +17 % | +26 % |
There are several points to bear in mind:
- In ItalyThe +29 % growth over n-2 is remarkable, and enthusiasm for Junior remains high.
- In France and in SpainAlthough the figures are more modest than in Italy, the increases are particularly impressive, respectively +148 % and +71 % vs n-2, thanks to Junior's popularity.
- The US market remains mixed: the rise in February (743 vs. 460 in January) has not yet offset the declines compared to n-1 and n-2 (-19 % and -14 %). This is one of the few countries where Junior is not sold. It remains to be seen whether the arrival of the 2.0L engine in the American Tonale will boost sales.
A satisfactory growth rate... but is it enough?

With almost 5,000 registrations per month over the January-February period, in the top 10 countries mentioned above, Alfa Romeo is on an annual base of close to 70,000 vehicles, a level similar to that of 2023. Certainly, we're seeing a clear rebound from the lows of recent years, and some markets (such as France) are showing spectacular growth dynamics.
However, the brand's historic targets and ambitions to pass the symbolic milestone of 100,000 annual registrations remain out of reach for the time being. Ihis pace will have to be maintained, or even accelerated, over the coming months if we are to match the figures of more than a decade ago.
Alfa Romeo has thus begun the first two months of the year on a positive note overall, with good prospects thanks to the Junior SUV, which is clearly attracting interest in Europe. So the question "is it enough? The new Stelvio presented in 2025 will probably not be marketed until early 2026, so we'll have to rely on the new versions of the Junior like Q4or the Tonale restyling mid-2025 to further increase the numbers.
As with every new launch 🤷🏼♂️
Never had so much fun as with alfa .
I'll buy a junior or more .... in 2026 .....but I'd still like a high-performance diesel! And that...... is missing for a lot of people !
Exceptional 🙂 not really, because from what I've just read, there are quite a few tactical sales (network, for example). To be seen
I don't know about Italy, but I've seen the figures for France in detail, with most sales to private individuals and not to rental companies, and so on.
Alfa Romeo NEEDS TO CUT THEIR PRICES!!! And to HELL with the anything EV!! for the STATES. Alfa Romeo NEEDS to design a car SIMPLE,PRATICLE,RELAIBLE AND AFFORDABLE!!! You know forget about all the TECH THIS and TECH THAT. Simple sound system, Simple NAV system You guys get my point. Your Cars are already SUPER RELIABLE THATS A FACT. You have come such a long way that even after ten years in a dying market FOR ALL CAR MAKES your cars STILL TURN HEADS and one of the main reasons they're not selling as well is because you DONT ADVERTISE!!! You guys forget that to get big you to start low, ESPECIALLY here in the STATES. You have Chrysler dealers Sell them there, tend to them there you get the point. Give the US market a car under 25k with a NA 2.0l simple everything with Alfa Romeo styling and it will do great. People dont have $50K plus to buy a car, you see what happening with GM, Ford, ect ect. Make a nice small affordable, reliable, nice looking car and ADVERTISE the hell out of it even a sport versiom for the youngsters and if you ADVERTISE it will SELL.
Alfa Romeo is SUCH an Awesome brand, but in the hands Non-Italian Stellantis having a French rebadge Peugeots, Renaults, and trying to sell it on the market at exaggerated price tags just spells disaster and not to mention that they absolutely DO NOT PAY THE CONSUMER ATTENTION and are arrogant (NO SURPRISE THIER) in just pushing out a product with their "WOKE" ideology that will fail and continue to fail when the answer is right under their noses. SMDH.
Sales are encouraging for Junior, despite a reduced choice of engines.
For the Tonale, other engines would be needed to give it a boost.
