Alfa Romeo: good start in January 2025, thanks mainly to the Junior SUV

L'Alfa Romeo Juniorlaunched several months ago, proved its worth in early 2025, especially in Italy, where it now accounts for a significant share of the brand's registrations. Although it drew some criticism when it was unveiled, it seems to have found its audience. The figures for January 2025 are very promising, indicating that the model is comfortably established as one of the most popular vehicles on the market.Alfa Romeo.

A good performance at European level

In January 2025, taking into account the top 10 countries, Alfa Romeo recorded a total of 4,702 registrations, an increase of 20 % compared with January 2024. This trend is even more marked than in 2023, when sales rose by 22 %. Although Junior is not sold in the United States, it has performed brilliantly in Europe, notably in Italy, France and Spain.

The figures for January 2025 are indeed impressive, with a marked increase of 17 % in Italy, 70 % in France, and 66 % in Spain. These results suggest that Junior meets consumer expectations in these countries. In Italy, for example, the Junior now accounts for 62 % of Alfa Romeo sales, an exceptional figure that reflects the growing interest in this model.

Market differences in Germany

However, not all markets react in the same way. In Germany, a country renowned for its preference for C and D segment vehicles, the appeal of the Junior remains more moderate. Although specific figures for the Junior are not yet available, trends in previous months indicate a preference for other segments, which explains the more mixed results for this model in this country. As a result, this country is down by -9%, with greater demand for Tonale and Stelvio models.

UPDATE: we have the figures for Junior, which still represents 55 % of German vehicle registrations in January 2025.

Hybrid version opens up prospects in the UK

In the UK, things are looking up for the Junior, which was previously only available in the 100 % electric version. Since the beginning of February 2025, the hybrid version is finally available for orderwhich could well boost Junior's sales in the months ahead.

Good momentum, but time is of the essence

While January was a very good month for Alfa Romeo, it's essential to remain cautious. The brand recorded atotal of 62,000 registrations in 2024This represents an average of 5,200 cars sold per month. Historically, March to June were strong months in terms of registrations, and it will be interesting to see if Junior continues to take the brand to new heights over this period.

Initial results are therefore very encouraging, but the real test will be whether Alfa Romeo can maintain this momentum. It may be that Alfa Romeo novelties expected in 2025 can also support sales.

  1. If it can save the brand, that's fine, but it won't be enough for the real Alfistas. When will we see a real three-volume sedan? Q one the people in charge are thinking about it.

  2. I've just seen a Junior for the first time outside a dealership. I had to look several times and read Alfa Romeo on the back to be sure it was one...

    Verdict: poor.

  3. Junior takes the name of its illustrious ancestor, that's all. For me, battery-powered Alfa is a no-go.
I still have my GIULIA 2.0 petrol, and my GTV twin-spark, real ALFAs, which is bad for the brand, but
    a true Alfiste... I don't think I'm alone

  4. Worldwide sales are ridiculous.

Having fun with the figures for France: 656 sales in January. That's 7 sales per French department (95 departments). That's around 2 sales/week/department for the entire Alfa range.

Alfa dealers must be bored this week...

  5. Hello Alexandre,

I don't understand your figures on the percentage of sales.

Example: you state that Junior accounts for 34% of Alfa Romeo sales in France, i.e. 488 vehicles out of a total of 656 sold. However, 34% of 656 is 223. 488 represents just over 74% of 656.
The same applies to all other figures, with greater or lesser variations.

    What about it?

    Best regards.
