Alfa Romeo: new hint for the Alfetta!

Advertising

After the launch of the B-SUV Junior in 2024, the Stelvio in 2025 and the Giulia in 2026, the enigma of future models continues. Alfa Romeo from 2027 is becoming increasingly intriguing. Although it is Almost certain to see a new Tonale using the STLA Medium platform in 2027, plans beyond that remain unclear.

In his statements for 2023, Jean-Philippe Imparato, then CEO of Alfa Romeo and now CEO of Stellantis Europe, spoke of a long-term product plan for models 2028 to 2030, to be validated in September 2023. One announcement caught our attention: at the same time, he also announced thatAlfa Romeo planned to bring back the Alfetta. This legendary model was the soul of the brand in the 1970s, would return to a C so as not to be reserved exclusively for the Tonale, anchored in the C-SUV segment.

"The C-segment for Alfa Romeo won't just be Tonale . What I want to make is... an Alfetta" Jean-Philippe Imparato, March 2023

It's almost 2025 and the rumours have been flying: Alfetta, new Giulietta, large SUVand even more recently GTV ! What if the Alfetta, Giulietta and GTV were really the same model? According to our information, the new Giulietta could in fact be renamed Alfetta GT, with a "Veloce" version called GTV for performance enthusiasts. Find out more!

Document dated 2022 showing a new Giulietta

Remember that in 2022, a document we had already obtained indicated thata new Giulietta, on the STLA Medium platforma possible cousin of the future Peugeot 308 and DS4. A segment of compact sedans, in the C segment.

But here's a major new clue in favour of the Alfetta's return! In March 2023, FCA Italy registered the "ALFETTA" trademark in class 12, specifically dedicated to automobiles. Other registered trademarks include "Topolino", "Giulietta" (in 2017), "Tonale", "Duetto" (2018), "Delta" (2018), "4C", "Giulia", "Stelvio". The registration of the Alfetta trademark in 2023 is the most recent, and leaves little room for doubt. as to the brand's intention. This was validated and published in May 2024.

So, what are we to make of all this? The Giulietta will return, but under the name Alfetta or Alfetta GT. The name could be Alfetta GTV, for the Veloce version. As for the bodywork, it could be halfway between a crossover sedan and a coupé SUV, like the Opel Manta concept or the Peugeot 408. It will be positioned below the slightly longer Giulia, on the STLA Large platform.

    • Put an end to all these SUVs and redesign sedans, station wagons, coupes, compacts, convertibles and light, high-performance roadsters - electric or not, who cares?
Tax SUVs very heavily, and we'll see whether manufacturers and consumer-consumers will continue to buy these big, mostly hideous things!
Just like the latest DS n°8! 🤢

      • Exactly
        What's more, they're fake suvs
They have only two drive wheels
        In addition
        What a miserable automotive landscape
We want real spider sedan coupes like the Giulia, station wagons etc'.

  1. An Alfetta is a rear-wheel drive car with powerful D-segment engines, not a C-segment engine, if the history of this brand is anything to go by. Another marketing mistake to come from Alfa, so if you add to that a base and bogus engines from Peugeot, it's a sure-fire flop!

    • If you want to kill Alfa, continue Carlos Tavares' work.
I'm sure my Italian friends are capable of reacting, but the ideal would be to get rid of the Cancer that is stellantis.

    • Before, when a new Alfa Romeo was announced, we were all like 7-year-olds before Christmas. Since the disappointment of the Tonale, and especially since Peugeot took over, I have the impression that we no longer expect anything. We've gone from impatience to indifference. The worst thing is that even if we don't expect anything, they can still disappoint us (see the Junior)...

      • Mouais , the reality of the figures shows that the Italians are the problem, not Tavares. The Giulia has been around for 8 years. Stellantis has been around for 3 years. And strangely enough, sales of the Giulia, which are bad overall, have been falling since 2018! I think Tavares has been too kind. Everything that sells we stop producing ... Tavares to bcp fault but if Alfa still exists it's because of him!

        • Above all, Tavares decided to make Peugeot available on all brands, without understanding the specific features of the Italian brands.
This guy had been a calamity and it was time to get rid of him.
As for the Giulia, you have to look beyond the French market in terms of sales.
Alfa Romeo isn't selling enough, and Stellantis is one of the reasons for this, along with his former manager Carlos T.

        • It would be nice to have some solid arguments. The reality is that the Junior, in a segment that should be selling well, is nowhere to be seen. Not a single one on the road yet.

Tavares had no vision for the future. Apart from his golden retirement...

  2. Hello
Me, I see a little entour loupe... Filed by FCA italy 🤔🤔 and now the departure of Mr TAVARES... The Italians are very good at mergers... And on top of that the head office is coming back to the mother country... Elkhan is going to pull the little white rabbit out of the hat 🎩🎩😉😉 us.

    • The European division is moving to Turin Mirafiori, on the premises of the former FCA headquarters. This transfer had been planned for some time. PSA's former Poissy headquarters will join FCA's Turin headquarters. There was no point in keeping two operational units. And it will please the Italians, who feel they've been plundered since the merger. On the other hand, the international headquarters will remain in Amsterdam.

  6. Alfa Romeo, however, has succeeded with the Giulia...the most efficient sedan in its segment and even in the top segment.
    The French shun it

    • I agree, the Giulia has a far superior chassis. But the malus penalizes it a lot. With hybrid engines, it would already have made a big difference. And the average Keke swears by German cars.

    • That's right, everyone's been crying wolf since the Tonale: it's a Fiat in disguise, and the Junior is a rebadged 2008. In fact, I'd invite the grumpy people on the forums to position a 2008 and a Junior side by side and list the bodywork elements they have in common, rather than repeating like sheep what they've read everywhere: not the hood, not the wings, not the cut-out behind the rear doors at roof level, the roofline at the rear. Oh yes, there is indeed a hatch.
Getting back to the Giulia, it's an Alfa, a real one, it's great, so why don't you buy it?

  7. It doesn't matter whether the name is Alfetta or Giulietta. What I see is crossover and electric in the picture, or how to further destroy Alfa Romeo's heritage.
