Alfa Romeo Junior: how are the orders after almost a year on the market?

Advertising

The Junior, the new B-SUV fromAlfa Romeoopened its order book on April 26, 2024, but after almost a year, how do things stand? While the Italian brand has long relied on flagship models such as the Tonale, Giulia and Stelvio, the Junior represents a turning point in many respects.

A timid start

When it was launched, the Junior's initial orders were relatively slow.. Between the start of sales in April 2024 and October 2024, sales did not exceed 10,000 units, a figure that was too modest and too much to ask for. twice as low as Tonale over the same period. This was a worrying figure, given that during the same period, Alfa Romeo posted a 13 % drop in sales in Italy, its number 1 country.

CEO level boosts sales?

However, from November 2024 onwards, a rebound seems to be taking shape. Alfa Romeo to change CEO in early October 2024and, on the occasion of the Mondial de l'Automobile 2024, it gives an ambitious order target for january 2025. By chance or real impact, sales began to grow at a much faster pace: by January 2025, orders had reached the target of 20,000 units, and by early February 2025, they had already reached 22,000 units.

March 2025: a new course

Alfa Romeo has announced the launch of the Junior Q4, 27,000 orders by March 2025. This number, while encouraging, also raises questions: is it enough for a model that is supposed to embody Alfa Romeo's renaissance in the B-SUV market? If it continues at this pace, the Junior seems to have finally found its cruising speed, although this is not yet enough to achieve the brand's more ambitious objectives.

Cumulative Alfa Romeo Junior orders from April 2024 to March 2025

Interestingly, Junior's orders doubled between November 2024 and February 2025. According to our estimates, average monthly sales at the start of 2025 will be around 3,500 units, which represents a clear improvement on the pre-October 2024 period, which was rather around 1,500 monthly units.

In our opinion, for Junior to be considered a success, it should reach an average of 5,000 orders per month. This figure could not only be a good indicator for an Alfa Romeo B-SUV, but also a sign of health for the brand in general. After all, Junior must play a key role in Alfa Romeo's revitalization.

In conclusion, after a difficult start, the Alfa Romeo Junior should exceed 30,000 orders in its first year. Remember thatAlfa Romeo ended 2024 with just 62,000 sales. Junior can do much better, In comparison, its cousin the Peugeot 2008 sold 215,000 units in 2024.

  1. We hope so! No doubt that with a pleasant and reassuring Alfa/Fiat diesel and petrol, success would have been different.

  2. I don't really agree with this analysis.
The Junior did not appear in dealerships until late 2024. Few customers order a car without sitting in it.
The one we ordered in autumn 2024 (without having seen it before) was not delivered until February 2025.
So for Switzerland at least, real sales only began in 2025.
It turns a lot of heads and interests, with passers-by asking us questions.
So let's be optimistic: the 12 months of 2025 will be a better basis for analyzing sales performance.

  4. Ein reizvoller Wagen den ich mir sofort kaufen würde. Leider läuft derzeit noch der Leasingvertrag für den Mini Hybrid 4×4.

  5. Sorry, but an Opel Mokka has more allure than this cobbled-together thing that calls itself AlfaRomeo. That's what Alfa is to me, and I'm full of the poor Giulietta customers who, tired of waiting for a replacement, give in to the pressure of a few salesmen and take a shoddy Junior.

    • All is said, good analysis, where are the real alfa ,
The suv is good, but this is just restyling stellantis, copies,
The mito ,the guilletta ,the GT ,the 166 ,where are they?
      The Stelvio is nice, though.
      👍👍👍

    • The Tonale is an FCA product, before Stellantis arrived. FCA offered nothing for the Giulia and Stelvio to sell them: no comms, no marketing, and technically, no hybridization and outdated infotainment when it came out. When you want to make a premium car, everything has to be up to scratch. Making a sedan with the best chassis isn't enough.

  10. But where are the Alfa dealerships? Even in Ile de France we're looking for them! The one in Chambourcy has been in standstill for months, while the Renault dealership next door (which started later) opened long ago ????

  11. Today I was invited by Alfa Romeo France to Monthlery, to test drive the Junior Veloce and Tonale PHEV.
I was blown away by the Junior Veloce, which handles like the best Alfa cars, and whose exterior and interior design is really good.
The YouTube tests were very positive, and fully justified.
The Junior Veloce is super fun to drive, with Sabelt seats that are perfect, and an impeccable driving position. The Junior Veloce is a small sports car, and not, in my opinion, a small SUV, as it's lowered compared to other Junior models.
Those who say it's a Peugeot 2008 are wrong, because even if a few buttons are the same, everything else has nothing to do with it.
I haven't tried the other Junior models, so I can't comment on their qualities or defects.
I'd like to know the real range of the Junior Veloce in slightly sporty driving, because otherwise I think the Junior Veloce is one of the best small sports cars on the market (or the best small SUV, if you want to call it that). I'm exaggerating a little, because the GR Yaris offers a different feel, and that's what makes it the best small sports car on the market.
The future may not be so bleak with electric cars, and it's a pro-combustion engine guy like me who says so.

  13. Hello,
Having had the chance to test-drive the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce on the Montlhéry circuit this weekend, I'm absolutely convinced by this car in terms of its exterior and interior design, the dynamism of its chassis and its performance, as well as the pleasure it gave me during the test-drive. It's a very pleasant car to drive, it puts a smile on your face, and there's no denying it: it's an Alfa!
And to all those who tirelessly compare it to a Peugeot 2008, I have just one piece of advice to give you: before commenting on web photos, try seeing one in real life. Then get in it, and if you get the chance, drive it! I'm convinced that from that moment on: you'll change your mind... 😉
    Buon proseguimento!

  14. I've been driving a Tonale hybrid 130 since September, and I'm delighted with it... Beautiful, comfortable, well-equipped...
But unfortunately I have to agree with the previous comment about the low visibility of the ALFA network in a region that's rather interesting in terms of purchasing power... Especially since until a year ago there was an Alfa Jeep dealer who was doing the job, and who was fired on the eve of moving into new premises nearby... No capira...

  15. Vogliamo la nuova Giulietta!!! A cosa servono tutti questi SUV? The market is saturated with SUVs.

  20. I've not yet seen one on UK roads.
That said, I ordered mine in November, but was told to expect a 6 month delivery time - so another month to go.
Hard to know then if they are popular (hence long wait) or unpopular (as i haven't seen any)!
