At the presentation of the Milano, quickly renamed Junior, in April 2024, one detail has been the subject of much discussion: the design of the new Alfa Romeo Scudetto. This element, placed proudly in the center of the grille, was intended to mark an evolution in the brand's styling, but it also divided opinion. The Scudetto "progresso", a larger version, was intended to display the Alfa Romeo logo in a more imposing way. However, this design met with criticism.

An alternative has met with wider success: the Scudetto "leggenda". The latter more closely echoes previous models, such as the Tonale, Stelvio and Giulia. This version received more positive feedback, particularly for its respect for Alfa Romeo's aesthetic traditions.

However, during the presentation of the Junior Q4 145 hp, one small detail caught our attention: a slight evolution of the Scudetto Leggenda. The latter, now in a matte finish, replaces the former gloss version. A subtle change, but one that may well reflect an evolution in the brand's stylistic vision. Is this a sign that Alfa Romeo has realized that the more sober and elegant Scudetto Leggenda is more in tune with the brand's visual DNA?

This discreet move also seems to be in line with the words of Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, Alfa Romeo's head of design. After the presentation of the Junior, he suggested that the Scudetto design could evolve further in response to market feedback. This suggests that, if this new version doesn't meet with unanimous approval, other adjustments could be made. It's not out of the question that this subtle evolution of the Scudetto Leggenda heralds a return to Alfa Romeo's roots. Perhaps we'll see this version, more faithful to the brand's history, on future models like the Stelvio, which will be presented in a few months' time.
Progresso is abusive. It's there to say, "Yes, I'm telling you, I'm an Alfa Romeo! But at least it leaves real air intakes. The Leggenda respects the real typography, the real slope, which is interesting, but it's full, which makes it look like an artifice, which makes the whole thing look fake. A bit like the fake scoops on either side of the bumper, that's a real lapse in taste. Even a Captur has real scoops...
Movies are all very well, but I'd rather see engineers looking at the real problem, which is to keep the heart of Alfa Romeo alive. If they haven't figured out the engine yet, that's where the survival of my favorite brand since I was 8 years old will depend on. It's not Carlos Tavares' fetish engine that will motivate buyers of real Alfa Romeo.
I miss a busso instead of a puretech, the rear-wheel drive, the license plate on the left-hand side, the sound of the engine...as for the grille, of course the scudetto leggenda is better, but imposing electricity on an Alfa is like putting lanans in pizza.
Hai perfettamente ragione e hai concentrato ciò che chiediamo da anni noi Alfisti.
Probabilmente siamo una minoranza...
Badge engineering on overweight Peugeot white goods EV. Not a real Alfa. Busso must be at 10,000rpm in his tomb
E un passo avanti, eliminare la pubblicità di canale 5! Ma la vera bruttura è il logo sul cofano anziché nello scudo
They're both so goddamn ugly.
I love it, and I hope alfa will put its colorful logo back in the center of the steering wheel.
