Alfa Romeo quietly upgrades its Scudetto

At the presentation of the Milano, quickly renamed Junior, in April 2024, one detail has been the subject of much discussion: the design of the new Alfa Romeo Scudetto. This element, placed proudly in the center of the grille, was intended to mark an evolution in the brand's styling, but it also divided opinion. The Scudetto "progresso", a larger version, was intended to display the Alfa Romeo logo in a more imposing way. However, this design met with criticism.

Scudetto Progresso

An alternative has met with wider success: the Scudetto "leggenda". The latter more closely echoes previous models, such as the Tonale, Stelvio and Giulia. This version received more positive feedback, particularly for its respect for Alfa Romeo's aesthetic traditions.

However, during the presentation of the Junior Q4 145 hp, one small detail caught our attention: a slight evolution of the Scudetto Leggenda. The latter, now in a matte finish, replaces the former gloss version. A subtle change, but one that may well reflect an evolution in the brand's stylistic vision. Is this a sign that Alfa Romeo has realized that the more sober and elegant Scudetto Leggenda is more in tune with the brand's visual DNA?

This discreet move also seems to be in line with the words of Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, Alfa Romeo's head of design. After the presentation of the Junior, he suggested that the Scudetto design could evolve further in response to market feedback. This suggests that, if this new version doesn't meet with unanimous approval, other adjustments could be made. It's not out of the question that this subtle evolution of the Scudetto Leggenda heralds a return to Alfa Romeo's roots. Perhaps we'll see this version, more faithful to the brand's history, on future models like the Stelvio, which will be presented in a few months' time.
