Alfa Romeo Junior: how are the orders after almost a year on the market?

The Junior, the new B-SUV fromAlfa Romeoopened its order book on April 26, 2024, but after almost a year, how do things stand? While the Italian brand has long relied on flagship models such as the Tonale, Giulia and Stelvio, the Junior represents a turning point in many respects.

A timid start

When it was launched, the Junior's initial orders were relatively slow.. Between the start of sales in April 2024 and October 2024, sales did not exceed 10,000 units, a figure that was too modest and too much to ask for. twice as low as Tonale over the same period. This was a worrying figure, given that during the same period, Alfa Romeo posted a 13 % drop in sales in Italy, its number 1 country.

CEO level boosts sales?

However, from November 2024 onwards, a rebound seems to be taking shape. Alfa Romeo to change CEO in early October 2024and, on the occasion of the Mondial de l'Automobile 2024, it gives an ambitious order target for january 2025. By chance or real impact, sales began to grow at a much faster pace: by January 2025, orders had reached the target of 20,000 units, and by early February 2025, they had already reached 22,000 units.

March 2025: a new course

Alfa Romeo has announced the launch of the Junior Q4, 27,000 orders by March 2025. This number, while encouraging, also raises questions: is it enough for a model that is supposed to embody Alfa Romeo's renaissance in the B-SUV market? If it continues at this pace, the Junior seems to have finally found its cruising speed, although this is not yet enough to achieve the brand's more ambitious objectives.

Cumulative Alfa Romeo Junior orders from April 2024 to March 2025

Interestingly, Junior's orders doubled between November 2024 and February 2025. According to our estimates, average monthly sales at the start of 2025 will be around 3,500 units, which represents a clear improvement on the pre-October 2024 period, which was rather around 1,500 monthly units.

In our opinion, for Junior to be considered a success, it should reach an average of 5,000 orders per month. This figure could not only be a good indicator for an Alfa Romeo B-SUV, but also a sign of health for the brand in general. After all, Junior must play a key role in Alfa Romeo's revitalization.

In conclusion, after a difficult start, the Alfa Romeo Junior should exceed 30,000 orders in its first year. Remember thatAlfa Romeo ended 2024 with just 62,000 sales. Junior can do much better, In comparison, its cousin the Peugeot 2008 sold 215,000 units in 2024.
