After almost nine years in business, the CLG Motors dealership in Rennes has had to close its doors. The closure comes at a particularly difficult time for the Italian luxury brand, with several Maserati dealerships due to close in 2024.
Concerning the city of Rennes, France, on Friday, January 24, 2025, a batch of vehicles Maserati will be auctioned as part of the liquidation of CLG Motors. The first liquidation before others?
This liquidation of a Maserati dealership comes at a time when the brand has been in difficulty in France for many years. Indeed, Maserati has already had to contend with several dealership closures in 2024and sales figures are hardly encouraging. In France in 2024, Maserati sales were down 50 % on the previous year, with only 97 new vehicles registered in Franceincluding a number of demonstration models.
The never-ending story of the Stellantis saga... there was everything to do well 10 years ago; new models, new engines, new platforms, new customers, a strong presence in the US, historic sales for Maserati... But we prefer to relaunch a brand like Lancia that almost nobody knows any more for those born after 1995, and let a brand like Maserati die when the enormous and verified potential was there and well established. We're going to start again from scratch, the customers are going elsewhere, what a sadness, what a shame these managers and CEOs are... who can count on such a strategy??
